1. Acceptance of Terms
By engaging BoardAndBrief for any service — including submitting an inquiry, paying a deposit, or receiving a deliverable — you agree to these Terms and Refund Policy in full. If you do not agree, do not proceed with an engagement.
These terms apply to all services offered: research proposal writing, SOP writing, ESP8266/ESP32 firmware coding, circuit diagrams, module selection and technical documentation, and quick-start guides or user manuals.
2. Scope of Work
The scope of each project is agreed in writing (email or messaging platform) before work begins. The agreed scope includes a deliverable list, format, and revision allowance.
Any additions to the original scope — including new features, extra pages, additional services, or format changes — will be quoted separately as a change order. Work on change orders begins only after written approval and any required additional deposit.
Services explicitly excluded from scope (as listed in service descriptions) are not covered under any tier unless separately quoted.
3. Payment Terms
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required before work begins. The remaining 50% is due upon delivery of the final files, before release.
Accepted payment methods: PayPal, Wise (TransferWise), and bank transfer in USD. All prices quoted are in USD unless otherwise stated.
If the final payment is not received within 7 days of delivery notification, BoardAndBrief reserves the right to withhold the final files and re-list the project.
Invoices are provided upon request for all transactions.
4. Revision Policy
Revisions are included as defined per tier: Starter (1 round), Professional (2 rounds), Custom (negotiated). A revision round is defined as one set of consolidated feedback submitted in a single message. Multiple separate feedback messages do not constitute a single revision round.
Revisions must be requested within 7 days of delivery. Requests submitted after this window will be treated as new work and quoted separately.
Revisions must be within the original scope. Requests that alter the fundamental direction, format, or subject of the deliverable are considered new work.
5. Delivery & Timelines
Estimated delivery timelines are provided at the time of quoting and begin from the date the deposit is received and the project brief is confirmed — not the date of initial inquiry.
Delays caused by the client (e.g. late provision of required materials, delayed feedback) will extend the delivery timeline accordingly. BoardAndBrief will notify the client promptly of any timeline impact.
Rush delivery (24–48 hours) is available at an additional fee, subject to current availability. Rush requests must be confirmed before the deposit is paid.
6. Refund Policy
Refunds are governed by the following conditions:
- Full refund of deposit: If the project is cancelled before work has begun (within 24 hours of deposit payment).
- No refund of deposit: Once work has commenced. All work completed to the point of cancellation will be delivered.
- Full refund of total payment: If BoardAndBrief is unable to deliver any portion of the agreed scope and no alternative is offered.
- Partial refund: If BoardAndBrief delivers only part of the agreed scope, a pro-rated refund may be offered at BoardAndBrief's discretion.
- No refund after delivery: Once final files are delivered and the revision window has opened, no refunds are issued. This applies even if the client chooses not to use the deliverable.
Refund requests must be submitted in writing to hello@boardandbrief.com with the project reference and reason for the request.
7. Intellectual Property
Upon receipt of full payment, the client receives full ownership of the delivered work product for their stated use case. BoardAndBrief retains the right to include anonymised or generalised descriptions of the work in a portfolio unless the client requests otherwise in writing.
BoardAndBrief does not transfer rights to any third-party tools, libraries, or frameworks used in the delivery (e.g. open-source Arduino libraries). Usage of such components is subject to their respective licences.
8. Confidentiality
BoardAndBrief treats all project briefs, materials, and client information as confidential. Information will not be shared with third parties without written consent. An NDA can be signed on request at no charge.
9. Limitation of Liability
BoardAndBrief's total liability for any claim arising from a project is limited to the total amount paid for that specific project. BoardAndBrief is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to lost profits, missed application deadlines, or hardware damage resulting from firmware use.
Firmware and circuit deliverables are provided as-is for the described hardware configuration. BoardAndBrief recommends testing in a safe environment before production deployment.
10. Changes to These Terms
BoardAndBrief reserves the right to update these terms at any time. The version in effect at the time of your project agreement governs that engagement. The most current version is always available at this URL.
